Science might not have a favourite subject for some of us growing up, but that doesn’t change the fact that seeing scientific laws and principles in motion, is pure fun. Doubt it? Take a trip around Bengaluru’s famous Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium with FlippAR Go and you’ll know what we’re on about.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium of Bengaluru was founded in 1989 and has since remained the centre for non-formal Science Education. The facade of the planetarium is made with plain brick structure topped with a small dome. You can actually see this structure right now, from wherever you are, by using FlippAR Go on your phone. All you have to do is – open the app, select “Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium”, click on the option of “Explore The Planetarium”, and voila! You are looking right at the building of the Planetarium.
Understand the Science behind the “Science Park”:
Most of us who have grown up in the city, remember the Science Park from our Science field trips. It was fascinating then and continues to remain so. The exhibits of the Park consist of models that help explain complex scientific principles to children in a fun and interactive way. For example, the exhibits of the “whispering dish” or the “musical pipes” explain the principles of sounds, while “resonant swings” and “resonant pendulum” explain the principles of motion – all this while keeping it easy to understand and riveting.
To help make this interaction even more exciting, FlippAR Go has introduced videos further explaining the Science behind them. All you have to do is scan the exhibit, and will, in turn, unlock AR Videos that explain these principles in great depth and detail.
Take a trip to Mars:
As you enter the building, you will find a poster for the Red Planet – Mars. Scan this poster using FlippAR Go and watch it come to life. That’s right! Try it to get a true AR experience on your device.

Just enjoy the show:
Your trip to the Planetarium would be incomplete without attending one of their shows. These shows take you through the stars. Watch the secrets of the universe unravel before your eyes. The shows are available in English and Kannada and the timings are as follows:
