Developed by Niantic and Warner Bros Games San Francisco, Wizards Unite is set to reignite the spark of the 2016 smash-hit AR mobile game Pokémon Go. The game begins with players having to create an account, which involves picking between wizarding houses, wands and professions – you know, normal wizarding stuff. This is followed by the player having to make an avatar which is influenced by the device’s geographical location. Then, simply put, your avatar has to travel the real-world environment, altered using AR features, in search of magical items and fighting mythical beasts.

Gucci Goes AR

With many reputed fashion houses like Zara, Burberry and Vogue adopting AR into their arsenal of marketing tools, Augmented Reality has brought a range of exciting experiences to the shoppers. A case in point is how Zara enabled its customers to buy products by simply scanning the posters at select stores.

Following the trend, Italian fashion giant Gucci has incorporated AR into their campaign for their popular Ace sneakers. Being featured as a part of the Gucci app, this AR experience allows the user to try on their signature sneaker. Moreover, Gucci has also added a feature that allows their users to take pictures of themselves in their favorite shoes. In their own words, Gucci announced that “The technology will allow Gucci to present the newest models to its fans, provide an engaging experience and an opportunity to interact with upcoming shoe collections that are only scheduled for release.”.

Something we can clearly see is that the presence of Augmented Reality is growing in everyday life. Ranging from mobile games to the largest fashion houses in the world, AR is growing both in prominence and use.
