What does the “future” hold for us? The question has been a central theme in debates and discussions over the past couple of decades. Experts from various fields have been expressing their concern about the quality of future we are cultivating through technology.
While there are some who believe that abandoning technology might be the solution, there are others who advocate the boons of technology. But what if technology and innovation could be used to create a world that we not only desire, but is also desirable?
Thinkers around the world have been working towards creating solutions that can help build a judicious and sustainable future. Celebrating such innovative thinkers, the ‘Red Bull Futur/io’ event brought together creative minds from various fields such as healthcare, aerospace, and nano-tech.
Recognising the disruptive effect that technology bears on the world today, and in an effort to find effective solutions to overcome it, Red Bull, along with the ‘European Institute of Exponential Technologies & Desirable Futures’, Futur/io, designed a competition that urged participants to share their vision of ‘a desirable future in 2030’.
As a part of the same project, the Red Bull Futur/io invited innovators from across the country for a series of lively discussions on creating a sustainable world of technology at The Bohemian House, Bengaluru.
A 70-year-old structure, The Bohemian House brings together the ethnic Mysore architecture and modern amenities and creates a space where heritage and modern-day life meet. In its cosy and calm ambience, TBH hosts a co-working space, a cafe, a home decor store, and an event space which served as the venue for the event.
FlippAR joined the event as the Augmented Reality partner and helped design interactive AR experiences for the crowd to engage with. One such experience allowed the audience to gain more information on the event and read about the speakers or explore the event schedules by simply scanning a standee.
Additionally, the users could also interact with the displays of the exhibitors and gain insight into the ideology and works of companies such as Team Indus and Log 9 Materials.
FlippAR also had the great opportunity of sharing with the audience a brief address on the vital role of Augmented Reality in creating a desirable future. For instance, with the help of Augmented Reality, we were able to keep the event relatively “paper-free”, which meant no paper products were used during the event.
The event hosted speaker sessions, sensory experiences, interactive and immersive set-ups, each expressing how technology can be used to shape a ‘desirable future’ instead of a dystopian one. But most importantly, the event brought together a community of innovative professionals whose products, solutions, and outlook dare to challenge the norm.
